North America encompasses a variety of countries, each with its own unique stamps, including Hawaii, Canada, Confederate States of America, Panama Canal Zone, St. Pierre & Miquelon, USA, UNO (New York).
Canada
- The first stamps issued in Canada featured a beaver (3d), Prince Albert (6d), and Queen Victoria (12d)
Confederate States of America
- The first official Confederate postage stamps were issued in October 1861
Hawaii
- Hawaii issued its first postage stamps in 1851, known as the “Missionary” stamps
Panama Canal Zone
- The Canal Zone postal service was established in 1904, and its first stamps were issued soon after.
St. Pierre & Miquelon
- The first stamps specifically issued for St. Pierre and Miquelon were released in 1885.
Unites States
- The first U.S. postage stamps (1847) featured Benjamin Franklin (5-cent) and George Washington (10-cent)
UNO – New York
- The United Nations Postal Administration was established on October 24, 1951, and issued its first stamps on that day.
